Why choose UME products?
UME products are made from some the purest and finest natural botanical ingredients the world has to offer. They are guaranteed to be free of synthetic fragrances and dyes, parabens, harmful preservatives, petroleum, glycols, and SLS. Wherever possible we use plant and vegetable based ingredients that have been produced using ethical and sustainable practices.
Are your products all-natural?
UME products are made from therapeutic grade plant and vegetable oils that are free from any chemicals or pesticides. Although UME products are made of chemical free oils they have not been certified organic.
Are UME products tested on animals?
Our products are formulated without animal ingredients or testing. We test our products on ourselves, our friends, and our family. Because the ingredients we use are food-grade, natural and organic, there is no need to test our formulas in a lab setting.
What is your commitment to the environment?
UME is careful to recycle all packaging that comes to us, you will often receive your shipments packaged from materials that we have received from our suppliers or from customer donations. If you receive bubble wrap or Styrofoam popcorn from us, it is material that has been sent to us in the shipments from our suppliers and re-used in your shipment. We encourage you to pass it on! We only use recyclable or reusable materials for our containers and packaging. We use 100% post consumer paper and products wherever possible. We limit the amount of print that we create and try to arrange most of our correspondents electronically. We try to order from suppliers located in Canada; however this is not always possible. We are powered by green energy supplied to us through Planet Energy (www.planetenergy.ca). We are constantly working on ways to reduce our waste and carbon emissions. Do you refill?
We offer refills that have been packaged in easy to recycle #2 plastics, which are recognized as being a safe plastic for product storage. Refills help you save money as plastic packaging offers value pricing.
Why do you use aluminum packaging and is it safe?
We use some aluminum packaging as it is non-breakable and protects the product from sunlight. Our aluminum bottles are lined with a safe, inert resin, which is perfectly suited to skin care ingredients.
Does UME use recyclable packaging for its products?
Our concern for the environment has led to the use of recyclable, environmentally-friendly packaging such as glass, recyclable plastic and aluminum for all of our products.
How do I store my UME products?
Store your products away from sunlight and heat as pure essential oils and essential fatty acids do not tolerate high temperatures and UV.

Why don't you carry full lines of brands, an example is Kiss My Face Products, you don't carry the full line, why?
We offer a variety of wonderful products made by both local and global manufactures. These products have been extensively researched and tested to ensure that they meet our high standards of being eco-healthy. We do not carry full product lines from all the manufactures for a couple of reasons. The first being that there is only so many products that can fit in our current space, therefore we have to be choosy about the products we carry. The second reason is not all products within a brand met our standards.

How do I purchase a UME For Life Membership?

What about sale items or coupons?
You will receive the sale price, coupon discount percentage, or your membership discount percentage, whichever is greater.
Does it apply to non merchandise items, like shipping and taxes?
It does not apply to non-merchandise items such as shipping, sales tax, or membership fees. Your membership discount only applies to merchandise.
Will I receive a membership number?
Yes, you will be sent a personalized membership code that you will enter during the checkout process.
How do I know when my membership will expire?
The UME For Life Membership program expires 1 year from the date of purchase. We will contact you via email one month prior to your membership anniversary date, to let you know that your membership is about to expire. You may also email us at any time to find out your anniversary date.
Should I wish to cancel my membership, can I get my money back?
Unfortunately, the $25 membership fee is non-refundable. Please contact us if you are unhapy with the membership program and we will try to resolve the issue.

Product Questions
Do I need to shake UME products before use?
We recommend that you give liquid UME products a light shake before use to combine the ingredients that may settle.
Why do UME Cleaner refills come with a small amount of concentrate in them?
We try to minimize the effect of our products on the environment. Adding water to the cleaners prior to shipping makes the product heavier to ship. The heavier the shipment, the more Fuel is used, and the more Fuel used, the more Green House Gases are produced. Shipping our water adds additional cost our customers shipping charges. If you would like us to add the water for you please just add a not with your order, it's not a problem at all.
What is the proper way to dispose of my old cleaners?
This is a tough one. You don't want to expose yourself to hazardous chemicals, but pouring them down the drain is not the answer. The best place to dispose of them is at your local household hazardous waste (HHW) collection centre. Most HHW sites collect any cleaners labelled as toxic, poisonous, corrosive, flammable, combustible or irritating. They'll also usually take products with "Poison," "Danger," "Warning" or "Caution" labels. There may be some cleaners your HHW collection site won't take. If you haven't experienced any adverse health problems while using them, continue to do so until they're done. It's less damaging to the environment to use a capful of conventional laundry detergent in the wash than to pour half a bottle down the drain, in one shot, or to send a partially empty bottle to the landfill. Just use common sense when finishing up older products. Make sure the area is well ventilated, and keep kids and pets away until surfaces have dried.
The ingredients on one of the products I ordered was not exactly as listed on your site, why?
Though UME requires full ingredient disclosure from the manufacturer we must rely on the accuracy of information provided to us, therefore UME cannot guarantee that the list of ingredients provided by the manufacturer is 100% accurate and up to date.

Can I Order by Phone?

What are your business hours?
Our Online Store operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Our shipping and receiving hours are Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM EST.
What kind of Credit Cards can I use?
You can use Visa and MasterCard when shopping online. When phoning in or emailing your order, you may pay by cheque, money order or through electronic money transfer. All funds must be cleared before shipping products.
Can I pay COD?
Sorry, we do not accept COD.
Do I need to have an account to buy from your store?
Yes you do. The reason why we ask you to sign up as a registered customer is to allow you to use the tracking and invoice retrieval features. We do not share or sell your information to anyone and you may opt not to receive updates or our monthy newsletter.
How can I check the status of my order?
Login to your account from the members area. Click on "My Orders" in the left side menu bar. You'll see a list with your orders, current and past, including their status. Click on the order to review your purchases, it's that easy! Once your order is shipped, you will receive an e-mail with your order information and UPS tracking number .
